Last day of school

One of the best parts of retirement is not caring that it is the last day of school!

Picked a book up at the library and had lunch at Pajo's on Garry Point - Halibut & Chips.

Tried some geocaching but failed to find both: Wizipy was too hard to clamber for and Packers and Piles wasn't where I thought it should be. By this time I was getting really tired so went home.

Read the paper and then had to go to bed for a nap. Fatigue is a side effect of both drugs and it is certainly a problem. I am hoping I will be better once my body gets used to the routine and the drugs.

Save Carleton

Met Matt for breakfast at the White Spot. Went home and fell asleep for a bit.

Met Adrian Dix, NDP MLA, at Carleton for a press conference and rally of students trying to save the burned building - http://carletonfire.blogspot.com/. I made a little speach to CITY TV but they only broadcast local news in the morning before I wake up.

Visited Weir since I knew a couple were leaving for good and I wanted to see Nancy & Rum.

Picked up my laptop at Best Buy. I took it in last Thursday and it was already back repaired - new hard drive and DVD drive. Love the warranty - it expired Tuesday!

Bought some stuff at M&M and Cobbs and then home. Spent the rest of the day reinstalling software. It certainly is faster with an empty hard drive.

Appointments day

Trouble sleeping last night so I didn't get up until nearly 10.

Went to my physio at her new clinic at Dunbar & 16th - http://gophysiotherapy.ca/ My neck was quite stiff so it took some work to loosen it up. Love being able to book my appointments online.

Had a sandwich at Swiss Chalet on Broadway on my way to the Cancer Agency. Met with Sydney for an hour to talk about stuff. I'll start going to her group for Women with Metastatic Cancer in a couple of weeks.

Too tired to shop so went right home.

A do nothing day

Woke up early and finally got up at 8. By 1o I was back in bed sleeping. I was just bushed all day. Decided not to get dressed and just watched TV and played Nintendo.

The fresh strawberries I bought in Richmond on Sunday are still delicious.

VESTA Retirement Dinner

Still tired today but not as much as the weekend. Stayed in all day.

Went to the VESTA Retirement Dinner at the Royal Van Yacht Club. Always a treat to see old friends and to listen to the speeches of the new retirees.

Almost ran out of gas on the way home. The indicator came on (yes, I know I wasn't paying attention!) in the middle of UBC. Made it back to 10th to fill up but must have been going on fumes. So much for the quiet drive home through the forest!

Fathers' Day

Slept in until past 10 today. Went for a drive to Richmond and bought strawberries from a farm.

Fathers' Day at Pru's. Pru & Jesse were cooking all afternoon. We sat at the firepit in the front yard and enjoyed wine and dinner. Ended with the kids making 'smores.

I miss my dad (40 years!) so it was nice celebrating with others.

Still really tired today. Mel came to clean at 12:30 so I have a clean apartment and the laundry is done.

Tried reading after she left and kept falling asleep.

I am also quite itchy but don't see the tell-tale rash that will show I am on the real drug!

Treatment 2

At the Cancer Agency for bloodwork at 11 today. The tech found a nice fat vein and filled a handful of vials. Too bad it isn't always so easy.

Connie & Mae came to visit while I was in the waiting room. Saw my trial nurse, Stephanie, to go over how I've been. The swelling and pain in the leg and groin have gone away. She agreed that it was probably a lymph node.

Mae and I had lunch at the Cactus Club and then I returned to wait for another hour. Went up to the chemo floor at 2:45. The nurse put a special needle into the port-a-cath and started an IV drip. The trial drug (or not) took 1/2 an hour this time instead of an hour and I didn't have to wait around to see if I had a reaction. The port-a-cath was cleaned out with saline and heparin and I was on my way by 3:45. That is it for another 2 weeks!

I stopped for a reserve at the library and went right home. I was so tired I fell asleep.

Went to the White Spot for dinner then to Safeway for a few groceries. I love shopping at 8:00 - the store is empty.

Extended Warranty

My laptop had the blue screen of death this morning. I finally dug out the bill and the extended warranty is up June 23rd!!

Arrived an hour early for Barb P's retirement party at the Vancouver Rowing Club in Stanley Park. I was not the only one, so sat in the car catching up with Lynne. It was a night of old friends. Great singing and speeches. Barb will be missed!

Last physio

Last physio treatment at Oakridge as my physio is leaving. She spent today massaging my neck and back.

Stopped at Safeway for groceries and then home.

I slept about 9 hours last night but am still tired.

Banquets

I didn't sleep well last night. Moved to my bed at 3 and it was better. I had been nervous about sleeping on the port-a-cath but it is now healed enough.

Started today at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club for the AGM of the Vancouver Branch of the Retired Teachers' Association. Great brunch buffet. Good to see so many old colleagues. I reelected a Member at Large (web steward & COSCO rep).

I was yawning all the way home and napped the rest of the afternoon.

Met Georgina in the parking lot of the Rocky Mountaineer Station for the AGM & 100th birthday of the Canadian Red Cross. The food at the reception was catered by the Four Seasons and was excellent. The serving staff just kept offering it!

I was given a certificate for my volunteering. I am going to bed now. I can't stay awake to watch the news.

Support Group

Good day today. Did some housework and laundry.

Met friends at the Cactus Club for dinner. We then had a meeting of the Lesbian Cancer Support Group at the Cancer Agency.

Feeling much better.

Sunday with Family

Quiet day today. Went to Pru's to sit on the porch for a bit and then we both went to Chris's for dinner and Scrabble.

I am feeling a lot more normal but still have some pain in the groin.

Shower!

Taped Saran Wrap on my little wounds and had a shower today. Certainly made me feel better!

Picked up some essentials (like waterproof medical tape) at Safeway and then finally dropped of Pru's birthday presents. Her front porch is an amazing garden!

Met Moira at Applause for dinner. Nice not to have to cook for myself until next Wednesday.

My article on geocaching appears in the current Postcript - the journal for the BC Retired Teachers' Association. It is the perfect hobby for the retired.

I am feeling perkier today and the swelling in my groin is better. Time for another icepack. My incisions are itchy which is a good sign. It still hurts a bit to sneeze or cough.

Quiet Friday

Slept on the chair again last night and didn't do much all day.

Took off the dressings and the incisions look healthy. Big bruise on my arm from the intravenous. My neck is still a bit sore and my broin is still swollen and painful. Ice packs help.

Maybe a shower tomorrow?

Healing

I slept in my Lazy Boy last night and did pretty well. The two incisions are on the side I usually sleep on. They are hardly hurting at all today but the main problem is my groin again. Just like the pain last year, it feels like someone kicked me. I'm sure I'd remember! Probably one of those tumours pinching a nerve somewhere.

Spent the day just dozing and watching TV.

Implanted Vascular Access Device

Well, I now have a plug in my chest. Always did like the Bionic Woman!

Mae & Connie picked me up at 8:30 and took me to Vancouver Hospital. I was taken in at 10:15 to pre-op. Putting an intravenous into my arm wasn't easy - and that is the point! The resident came with a pop-up book to show me just what the IVAD (Implanted Vascular Access Device) looked like and how it worked. It is also called a BardPort, Port-a-Cath, pick,

The started with a bag of anti-biotics and took me into the operating theatre at about 11:15. Really nice resident, nurses and doctor (David Taylor). They covered my face with a tent of turquoise sheets so I couldn't see anything and then put something in the line to relax me. Really didn't feel it at all. Then needles into my neck and chest - I did feel these and asked for more. The resident did the procedure and the doctor watched the ultrasound and talked her through it. I liked this as I could keep track of what they were doing.

She cut into my caratoid artery on the right side of my neck and shoved a wire down to my chest. Then she cut into the chest and put this little gizmo in under the skin and stuck the end of the catheter into it.

Then it was back to recovery and they gave me an egg salad sandwich and some cranberry juice. Mae and Connie were back and drove me straight home. My neck isn't hurting as much as it did but I think I'll just sleep in my chair for a couple of nights. I am to keep still for a couple of days and can't shower until Friday.

I've been dozing on and off all day.

Internet Radio

Tried buying an AR Wi Fi Internet Radio (ARIR200)at London Drugs in Richmond. The sale started today but it turns out each store only had one or two of them. Didn't want the one on the shelf so the store called Ladner and had them put one aside for me. Got there and they didn't know anything about it (God knows what store is saving one for me). I was patient for almost 1/2 and hour while they searched and finally found a box in the back. Picked up some bread, produce & a library reserve and headed home.

Took some time to get the radio talking to my Wi Fi system but it finally did and it works well, playing regular AM/FM or Internet stations.

I know Mae wants to read the library book I picked up, True Patriot Love by Michael Ignatieff, so I read it today - excellent book on Canadian history and patriotism. Those idiot Conservatives who are running the attack ads on his Canadianism obviously haven't read it.

I have a lot of pain in my groin today. One of the tumours? A tumour touching a nerve? Nerves over tomorrow's surgery? Ice and heat packs have helped and it is much better tonight.

VTLA Dinner

Out for a bit of shopping this morning and home for a rest. Feeling much better today - no headache.

Went to the Vancouver Teacher-Librarians' Annual Dinner at the Vancouver Lawn & Tennis Club. Good speeches for the retirees. Excellent food and company. Even won a book door prize.

Day Three

Today was the 3rd day of taking Exemestane and I've had a mild headache all day. This is one of the main side effects. I stayed in and finished a couple of books.

Watched the new beluga being born on the Vancouver Aquarium web cam. Now I'm watching one of the better Tony Awards - except for some sound glitches.

Tired!

Had to be at the Cancer Agency for a 9 am blood test to see how my platelets are fairing. Started up Cambie but it was closed for construction. Arrived at the Agency to find the road in front closed. Parked on Ash and went up the parking lot elevator but the door is locked on the weekend. Back down to the main floor door and made it to the lab right on time only to find it dark and empty!

Tried the chemo floor but it was empty. Found a nurse on the 5th floor and she had no record of me and suggested going back to the lab. By this time there was someone else waiting and that gave us both hope. The tech finally showed up and took me first. He had to use the back of my right hand again. The bruising is growing.

Although I got a good sleep last night I was bushed. Decided not to go geocaching with Pam & Lori. Picked up a couple of reserved library books & groceries at Safeway.

Home to read and doze for the rest of the day.

Clinical Trial begins

Arrived at the Cancer Agency at 8:00 for bloodwork. The second person to stick me found the elusive vein that was lying flat, trying to hide. She drew 9 vials of blood (I had 6 on Monday) and there was someone waiting to take 8 of them away. Now for breakfast!

Nothing here to eat so walked to a local coffee place for tea and a scone (raspberry & white chocolate).

Met with trial nurse and filled out a form about how I was feeling. Then she and Dr. Gelmon examined me. My blood tests were all normal so we can begin the trial today.

13:40
Just picked up my Aromasin (Exemestane) and took the first tablet. One a day & I have to fill in diary to say when I take it.

Mae came to meet me in the lobby and we went to Granville Island for lunch. After taking her home I found geocache #170 at the 100 sculpture near the entrance to Granville Island/Granville Street bridge.

Sat in the lobby and read the newspapers. Picked up my Exemestane at 13:30 and took the first one. Have to record it each day on a diary sheet.

Went to 6th floor chemo unit and started the AMG 479 (or placebo) at 15:10. The nurse put the intravenous in the back of my right hand (next time I'll have the port-a-cath!). After 1/2 and hour she needed to draw blood on the opposite side. She had to get special permission from a doctor since I had lymphodema on that side. It hasn't been a problem for quite a while so it was allowed. She stuck the first needle in but couldn't fill a vial, so had to do it again and was able to fill two. We decided to leave it in as she needed to draw two more at the end of the hour. It took an hour this time as they were watching for an allergic reaction. Next time it will only be 1/2 an hour since I tolerated it. I had to sit for a further hour on a saline drip just to make sure I wasn't going to have a reaction.

Picked up Mae and we had dinner at the Cactus Club. I had a big thick steak to replace some of those red blood cells. I came straight home after that. I am tired and have a bit of a headache. Also have a bruise developing on the back of the right hand.

Summer tires

It must be too hot. I just posted this to the BCTF Forum by mistake. That will make them wonder!

Finally switched to summer tires and had my regular service. The brakes were just about at the danger point so had new pads installed. This stretched the appointment out so I had lunch across the street, read the papers and my book. Found a couple of caches but it was too hot. Stopped at Chapters and then home. Couldn't decide what to eat once the hockey game was over (my team won again) so went to Safeway at 8:00. Bought groceries and still didn't want to cook so picked up Japanese at Applause.

Bone Scan Day

Had to be at Vancouver Hospital for an injection of the radioactive tracer for my bone scan. Had to use the vein in the back of my hand again.

Went to the White Spot for breakfast. Stayed in the airconditioning for quite a while reading and drinking. Managed two pots of tea and two large glasses of ice water in preparation for the test.

Back to the hospital waiting room and chatted with Grace McCarthy. Thanked her for the lights on the Lions Gate Bridge. The test took 20 minutes and went pretty well. My arms and feet were tied up to make lying still easier. I could see the monitor once I came far enough out of the machine and it was interesting spotting the bright white of the arthritis in my lower back, knees and ankles.

Stopped at Oakridge for groceries and the bathroom. Went staight home for the rest of the day - too much fluid intake to go anywhere.

It is really hot today and I had to keep my windows closed for the window washer. Luckily he was done by the time I got home. Too bad he didn't do the balcony sliding doors!

Hot

It was another hot day in the mid 20's (my car said 30 at one point). Found a Mystery Cache about Mike Weir at Langara Golf Course. Had to solve the location puzzle by researching his performance in 2005. Could get enough answers to figure out the latitude and guessed that the longitude was a trail. Found it quickly. Retrieved another and was attacked by 3 crows. There must have been a nest nearby and they kept diving at me. Still stumped by one at 33rd & Fraser in the cemetary and was happy to see someone else couldn't find it today so it might be gone. I am now at 167, Pam has 100 and Lori is running away with 402!

My hair was so thick it was like wearing a toque, so I had it cut really short. Then to physio and home to watch Pittsburgh win the hockey game.

Blood tests

Went to the local lab this morning (after fasting) and had 6 vials of blood drawn. The only vein he could find was on the back of my hand. Also had an EKG.

Went to Weir for recess and a visit. Found a geocache across the street that had been missing for months. Then to Richmond to retrieve a new one on the south dyke road. Had fish & chips at Pajo's at Garry Point Park. Found a third cache at Finn Slough. Used to play there growing up. We would lie on the small docks and ride the waves of passing freighters. Had to sit on a bench for 40 minutes until the 3 on the bench near the hiding place left. I'll start carrying a book in my pack! At least I had my iTouch full of music.

The booking clerk from Vancouver Hospital called to arrange my port-a-cath surgery. I go to the Jimmy Pattison building on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:00. No more pokes in the back of my hand!

White Rock

Picked up Mae this morning and we went to Jane's in White Rock. Glen dropped us off at the beach so we wouldn't have to try parking on suck a great day. We had lunch in a Greek restaurant and then walked along the promenade. Even went out to the end of the pier - 1st time I've done this even though I spent many days swimming nearby with my parents. Some brave souls were jumping off the end to the delight of an appreciative audience.

Glen picked us up and we went back to their house. After taking Mae home, I was back at my apartment by 5:30. Didn't miss much of the game but my team lost again!

Waterfall in Delta?

Out in Delta geocaching (161) in the sunshine. Actually found a beautiful park complete with waterfall - Diefenbaker Park in Tsawwassen. Had lunch and found one at Boundary Bay. Too busy to keep looking for a second one.

Stopped for asparagus at Richmond Farms and then to Ironwood for some clothes, bread & M&M stuff.

My back is just about better. I use the trekking poles for the longer walks and it helps. Even my neck has been pretty good - if you don't count not being able to look over my shoulder.

Clean again

Mel came this afternoon and cleaned the apartment and did the laundry - money well spent!

Got more details on next week's medical appointments - nothing to do on Thursday!

Out to the bank (to get cash & pay the ambulance bill - what kind of billing department sends a bill 6 months later!!!), COSTCO & Oakridge VPL (for books on tape for the car). Found 1 geocache near Langara (157).

Plan B begins

Had lunch at the Cancer Agency and visited with Mae & Darline in between their Therapeutic Touch patients. Met with Stephanie, my trial nurse, and signed the documents to join.

I start with a fasting glucose test on Monday and a bone scan on Wednesday. There is a shortage of isotopes so she is going to see if the one I had on May 4th will be acceptable. On Friday, June 5th, I'll see Karen in the morning and start the treatments in the afternoon.

I've agreed to have the port-a-cath inserted and will have that done in Vancouver Hospital in the next couple of weeks. Too many sticks with no veins!

Found a couple of geocaches (156) in Queen Elizabeth park on the way to physio. Still working on being able to look over my left shoulder!

Stopped in for a cup of tea with Pru.

Gulf of Georgia Cannery

Had to be up early this morning as they were checking the smoke and heat detectors. Always like to know they are working!

Met Diane and her class (and Theresa with her class) at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site of Canada for a field trip. Very good displays and an excellent film to explain the history of fishing in B.C. and how the cannery operated. I can still smell the reduction stench from when I went to school at Lord Byng while they rebuilt the burned Mort Elementary (now Whiteside).

We then walked to the Steveston Community Centre playground and let the kids eat and play. Diane & I went across the street & I had a latte & cranberry scone for lunch. On the way back to the bus we went along the waterfront and let the kids see the fishboats up close. Saw a couple of swans.

Took a book I'd bought on Italy back to Chapters and exchanged for a couple of history books: A Traveller's Guide to Historic British Columbia (3rd edition - I'll give the 1st away. It has been on the seat beside me on many drives around the province) and Witness to History. Italy now seems too complicated to fit in between treatments.

Stopped at IGA and the library on the way home.

Tommorrw I'll sign up for the clinical trial and get the timetable for the treatments.

Let's not get dressed day

This was one of my quiet days. I was up by 10 and didn't even get dressed.

Spent the day reading, paying bills, straightening up....

The watched Philly win the hockey game. Finally picked the winning team to cheer for.

New Clinical Trial

Went to the Cancer Agency and saw Karen today. The CT-Scan showed new tumours growing in my groin and my markers are slowly rising, so we are now on Plan B. I stop taking the Arimedex immediately and will replace it with Exemestane (Aromasin):

Exemestane is an oral steroidal aromatase
inhibitor currently indicated for
adjuvant treatment of hormone receptor-
positive breast cancer in postmenopausal
women and for advanced breast
cancer in postmenopausal women
whose disease has progressed following
treatment with tamoxifen."

I was also invited to join a clinical trial:
Amgen Protocol No. 20060362 - An International, Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Phase 2 Study of AMG 479 with Exemestane or Fulvestrant in Postmenopausal Women with Hormone Receptor Positive Locally Advanced or Metastatic Breast Cancer

Cancer cells become dysregulated via
multiple mechanisms, some of which
are related to cell proliferation. Interest
has been focused on developing novel
targeted agents that can restore cellular
functions involved in regulating
cell growth. Recent data suggest that
increased insulin-like growth factor-1
(IGF-1) signaling mediates cancer-cell
proliferation, reduces apoptosis, and correlates
with a higher incidence and progression
of several common cancers. A
number of agents are in various phases
of development that bind to, and target,
IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) and inhibit
these signaling pathways that promote
tumor progression, growth, and survival.
AMG 479, an investigational fully
human monoclonal antibody in earlystage
development by Amgen, is directed
against IGF-1R.

I took away 20 pages to digest. I am pretty sure that I will agree to the trial. The side effects aren't too bad (the top 3 are fatigue, rash, low platelets). The only problem might be my veins. The Exemestane is a daily pill but the AMG 479 (or the placebo) is by intravenous every 2 weeks. There are also a lot of blood tests. I might need a port-a-cath installed. Chemo is still a possibility but there are a few other things to try first.

I'll return to the Agency on Thursday to meet with the trial nurse and sign the documents. I'll then get a calendar of appointments so I can get on with other things. Looks like any holidays will have to be short ones.

Came home for a bit and then went to the last meeting of the VESTA Status of Women Committee. We then went to Stella's Tap and Tapas Bar on Commercial for dinner - excellent!

On the way home I made a bathroom stop at Matt's. Visited with Andrea and the girls until he got home from work at 8:00. Stressful time for him. Sharron is in St. Paul's with clots in both lungs. She'll be there for a week and they are doing a biopsy to check a suspicious node. Matt & Andrea have also sold their apartment and have put an offer on a townhouse in Port Moody!

Then stopped to visit Pru and we went over the trial papers. Always nice to have others agree when you have such an important decision to make.

Walking again

Went geocaching in Delta today. Took it slow and only went for the easy ones. At least that was the idea - found 2 and didn't find 4.

Home to heat and ice. My back is much better than it was.

Hot and Cold

Spent the day alternating between hot and cold packs on my back. I also have exercises to to when I go to bed and wake up. It is helping!

Tests

Started with a CT-Scan at the Cancer Agency this morning. Had to use a heating pad to warm the arm and the nurse found a vein after some patient prodding. Then across to have more blood drawn. This nurse took off the bandaid and actually found the vein again. Both had been eyeing the back of my hand - it is still sore from the last 2 sticks!

Tried geocaching but failed to reach one first. Also decided that I couldn't climb down on the rocks with my sore back and could see someone else was already down there looking.

Finally gave up doing anything and went home - those 2 bottles of water for the CT-Scan were demanding!

Picked up a reserve at the library and met Matt, Andrea, Sadie & Lily for dinner at the Oakridge White Spot. The girls shared a Pirate Pack and were quite happy. Did some grocery shopping on the way home.

Sacroiliac joint inflammation

Went to my physio today and she said I have Sacroiliac joint inflammation. One joint moved a little and the other not at all. No question that this pain was in my head. She knew exactly where it would hurt. She was able to loosen it through manipulation and I am walking better. Probably jammed it when I fell last week. I have to walk shorter distances and on the flat for a while and have excercises to do.

Met Georgina at the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens. I found a geocache in the totem out front (Al of The Gispudwada) while waiting (152). We walked around and then had tea and lemon tarts in Shaughnessy Restaurant.

Stopped at Mountain Equipment Co-Op to pick up a sling shoulder bag for geocaching.

Quiet day

Stayed in all day to rest my back. It is feeling better.

Test Day

Had to be at the Cancer Agency for a blood test at 11:15 - she actually found a vein in my arm! The last 2 sticks were in the back of my hand.

Waited around for 2 hours and then had an appointment with Karen but she was home sick. Loved the resident who saw me. He had talked to her on the phone before coming in to see me. There was something showing on the bone scan in my lower back but they think it is arthritis, not mets to the bone.

The bloodwork for CA-125 wasn't back yet so we talked about me doing it a few days earlier than the meeting with the doctor so this won't happen again. My markers seem to be rising but the test at the outside lab a few weeks ago wasn't exactly comparable. It showed I had gone to 51 - 45 is the danger point. Today's test should show if that is true and I'll have it in a couple of days

I still haven't had the CT-Scan but am sitting on a waiting list. The doctor will push for that soon and also wants a test of the mineral density of my bones.

He thinks the pain in my butt could be connected to the arthritis in the lower back. I am to go to my GP for a complete checkup and comprehensive bloodwork.

The appointment was better than I feared after talking to the resident a couple of weeks ago. It is amazing how a doctor's attitude can colour the message.

VESTA's AGM was at Chapel Arts - Vancouver's newest and most unique venue/gallery found in the notorious downtown east side at 304 Dunlevy. A beautiful Art Deco building but parking was an adventure. Was in the lot next to the Patricia Hotel surrounded by prostitutes. I smiled and they were all friendly but at the lower end of the spectrum. Quite sad, not scary. The machine wouldn't take my credit card so I called the DPS number on the sign and they took my licence number and the parking was free.

It was a good meeting and it was nice to see so many old friends. There were over a dozen lifetime members present and we added Barb & Jane to our ranks. The food was great. Two men were at a sushi bar making sushi to order - I had avocado & celery.

Took Barbara to the skytrain & met Barb, Susan, Maureen, Jane, Heather and Margaret at Death by Chocolate for dessert.

Dropped off Jesse's birthday present and home by 10 - a long day!

Queen Victoria Day

My back is still pretty sore so I jst sat all day, watching TV. It only hurts to walk. Heat is helping.

Sore back

The twinge in my lower right back was much worse this morning so I stayed in most of the day. Caught up on bills, etc.

Met Moira for dinner at Applause but hurt too much to do the planned grocery shopping. I'm fine if I sit still. I have heat on it right now. Hopefully it will just disappear tomorrow and I can get back to geocaching!

Dinner with Chris

Took a Starbucks latte to Mae this morning. Had to retrieve due library book I lent her (The Russian Album). Her new garden is really beautiful.

Took books back to new Kensington Library at Knight and Kingsway. Great collection of statues outside.

Spent afternoon geocaching in Richmond. One was on the grounds of the school I went to in the early 1960's! Last one was a walk of 1.3 km. I am now up to 150. Have given away the Kiwi & fish so now need a new geocoin to play with.

Had dinner at Chris's and we played 3 Scrabble games. He beat me!

Was going to shop on the way home but was too tired. My ankles and back are cranky tonight.

Point Roberts

Found a cache near home on Sea Island - could see it but couldn't climb down to reach it. Went to Canadian Tire to buy gizmo to reach and will try again. Also got a mirror on a retractable rod for those low down places.

Drove to Point Roberts. There was about a 20 minute wait. Found 2 geocaches - one with the mirror. One was at the western end of the US/Canadian border and found "Marker No. 1, a 20-foot-high obelisk erected to commemorate the establishment of the 49th parallel as the border between the United States and Canada." The mirror helped me find the next cache and I retrieved The travelling Kiwi who started its journey in Germany. In the next I found a Digitalfish who spawned in California. I'd never seen one of these and will pass both on as soon as I find caches big enough. So many are just large enough for a paper to sign.

Decided to return home early enough to miss the tunnel traffic and failed! Took River Road to the Alex Fraser Bridge and it was better. With a clue from Lori, I returned to a cache in Burnaby and found it quickly. The nearby store, DiscoverGPS.ca rewarded me with a T-shirt. They sell anything you would need for your Garmin.

Home in time to watch Kelowna kick butt!

Amost 1st

To physio at 1:30 today. Had to admit I fell climbing around in a park but got points for no broken bones and it didn't hurt my neck. Wonder how much longer I have to go before the neck is back to normal. I keep all the $50 receipts for my lawyer.

Tried for a 1st find today but someone was at the geocache at 5:45 this morning - 2nd is still good. Also found a new one in Richmond. I was 3rd at this one and Lori had been there in the morning. I left a geocoin.

Krall

Up early to attend an Executive meeting of the Vancouver Branch of the Retired Teachers' Association at the BCTF. They have the wireless passwords posted by the phone now so I could use my little netbook to look stuff up. Four of us then walked up to Max's for lunch.

Home for a rest and to read the papers.

Picked up Mae and we parked at Connie's in Yaletown. Connie was taking me for dinner and a show for my birthday. I think this is the last of my celebrations. Walked to the Hurricane Grill on Marinaside Crescent for dinner - I had the Grill Salad (6OZ N.Y. steak on grilled vegetables, spring mix, together with a balsamic reduction) and shared a piece of Key Lime Cheesecake. Definitely a place to return to.

We took a cab to the Orpheum and met Andy to see Diana Krall with the VSO. A truly amazing concert. It was the perfect venue. We sat dead centre in the upper balcony and could see everything. Her musicians were outstanding and her music worked with the orchestra behind her. It was like watching a singer from the 50's. What a sexy voice she has (See video of Quiet Nights).

The only problem was the jerk in front of us. The balding grey-haired man was with a young blonde who I at first thought might be his daughter. I quickly changed my mind when they kept snuggling. Andy couldn't see through them, so she sat on her coat to get higher. They never stopped talking! When they got up and walked out about half way through, we thought they might be rushing to a nearby hotel. No such luck and they returned after a couple of songs.

I finally snapped and told them to "Shut the fuck up" - it just burst out! The man jumped to his feet, swore back at me and said something that I couldn't understand but from his gestures, I think he wanted to fight me out in the alley. I told him to shut up and I think he realized that everyone was looking at him so he sat down. The two of them sat up straight and didn't talk during the second half of the concert. The women behind me were laughing at the end of the concert and thanked me.

I had the aisle seat so my knees didn't hurt until near the end. I do have a lot of aches and pains from yesterday's fall. Dumb, dumb, dumb - but maybe not as dumb as Mae falling off Evan's skateboard.

Liberals win

Where were all the voters? I can't understand how so many people choose not to vote. They don't deserve a say in anything that happens.

I went out this morning to vote at the Scottish Hall and was the only one there!

Carried on geocaching on the west side. Fell at Almond Park and won't try finding that one alone again. Made it to 140 and stopped.

Next year

Drizzly day today. Went out to pick up a package at my postal station. Thought I might do some caching but it started raining a bit and I didn't have a jacket. Stocked up at Safeway instead.

Poor old Canuckleheads! If only they had been scoring that many goals in the earlier games.

Another day in Delta

Up early and spent the day in Delta and Burnaby. Found 17 geocaches in the last 3 days and am at 137. Didn't want to waste the last sunny day for a while. My arms are scratched from the bushes I was crawling through.

Spent the rest of my birthday Chapters gift cards online. Nice cache of books coming!

Trekking in the sunshine

Woke up at 7:30 and the next time I turned over it was 11:00! No wonder I felt tired last night.

At 12:30 decided to drop reading the newspapers and headed out geocaching. Found a couple in Richmond and 6 more along River Road in Delta - 131.

Got to my post office in the drug store at 57th & Cambie just at 5:00 and they were already closed. Now I can't pick up my package (?) until Monday. I hate going to this outlet - the parking sucks and it is closed too early. It was much nicer in the 7-11.

Picked up my reserves at the library and then home to watch the Canucks blow it. Back to how they played last year - penalties in the last 5 minutes.

Geocaching in Delta

Trying to catch up to Lori so went to her home turf of Delta. Found a few and didn't find a few. The Komperdell Nordic Walking Poles are perfect. With them I walk steadier and faster. They help both the ankles and knees and are especially handy on slopes.

My netbook battery died after lunch - I forgot about it and hadn't turned it off all morning. That meant an end to my day. I took Lori's advice and went to Radio Shack for a Nexxtech Mobile Power Inverter that will plug in the lighter.

Canucks still alive

Went to physio for my neck today. The pain is less but I still can't look over my shoulder. It hurts when she finds the tight spots. I try not to reach behind and touch those. She also approved the telescoping walking stick and trekking poles I bought a few days ago so I'll rip off the price tags and start using them.

The Canucks almost had 2 in a row. Gave it away with a couple of minutes left. Must work on those mental lapses. Of course this means a Monday game and I'll be out for dinner. Will have to tape it

Rainy night

Didn't do much today. Read and watched taped shows.

Went shopping at 7 tonight. Couldn't decide what to cook so picked up a barbecued chicken. Was out of milk, et. Safeway is empty at night.

My right hand is still aching but my neck has been good.

Canucks Ahead

Had to get up and dressed for 8:00 this morning as Shaw was coming back. He finally arrived at 11 and install3ed a new modem - much faster apparently.

Did some laundry and then settled in to start watching several videos - I had to tape a lot last week because of the birthday events and hockey games.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the Canucks playing like they were in the last series.

Bone Scan

Had to be at VGH at 8:15 for the bone scan injection. Nurse couldn't find a vein in my arm and had to use one on the back of the hand - OUCH! Drank a large tea with breakfast at hospital food court and then went to the Cancer Agency looking for a geocache. My batteries died as I approached and I didn't find it. Walked back and drank a latte and then downed a bottle of water. Read the newspapers and then settled into my book. Never have trouble waiting as long as I have my iPod & a book!

The scan was at 11:15 and it was much easier than the last 2 when it hurt too much to lie still for 1/2 an hour.

Had to stop at Staples and Mountain Equipment Co-Op on the way home and was glad they had bathrooms. Bought a telescoping walking stick that my physio suggested for travelling and following Lori's advice, a pair of trekking poles for those geocaches that need a bit of walking to find. I'll not use them until my physio checks that I've chosen well.

Home for a rest and then met Louise, Wanda & Gwen at Primo's. The food and service was good but it is expensive even with my Entertainment coupon.

Stopped at Pru's for a while to say goodbye to Patience (sob) and watch some Houston basketball with her. Pru talked to Gail and it turns out they decided not to come Saturday and aren't lying dead in a ditch!

My neck is pretty good but my sprained right hand is a bother.

Perfect Sunday

Up early to read the papers and deal with email.

Went to Chris's at 1:00 and had lunch with him, Patrick & Patience. We watched some hockey and all of us dozed.

Chris & I played Scrabble and then Patience woke up for a couple of games. Pru came for dinner and we played several more games.

Very weird that Tim and Gail were coming for birthday celebrations on Saturday and we haven't heard a word from them.

Birthdays

Tried for a quiet day. My arthritis is making my knees hurt. Also sprained my right wrist while putting on my seatbelt in La Conner (how dumb is that!).

Picked up beer and groceries for Pru and arrived there at 4:00. We were celebrating Chris & Patrick's birthdays. Patience and Pru did a wonderful dinner and Chris brought over a scrumptious turkey that he cooked at home. Also present were David, Jesse, Matt, Andrea, Sadie & Lily. Katherine and John called from Australia. Tim and Gail were expected but didn't come.

We ended the day be releasing a couple of balloons and watched them soar away into the clouds.

Summer heat

What a marvelous day it was today. I met Lori on Annacis Island and we found 3 caches this morning. The most interesting was a bird sanctuary near the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. Finding the entrance to the park was the biggest challenge. We could see it from across the pond and the Alec Fraser Bridge seemed to be in the way. We did end up in Delta at one point!

We then found a couple at Queensborough Landing - had to have cones at the Marble Slab Creamery after finding a geocache behind it.

Did some shopping on the way home. Found a bag for my netbook at Staples.

Just settled in to read the papers when Pru called to invite me for dinner. Patience was cooking pot roast.

Bought groceries at Oakridge on the way home. Busier than I expected for 9 pm.

115

Physio this afternoon. My neck was stiff again - too many hugs this weekend!

Went geocaching in the sunshine. Still can't find 2 - one by the cemetary on Fraser and another in Richmond. Did find 2 that I had missed before so am up to 115.

Had dinner at Dave's in Steveston and was home in time to watch the Canuck win. Did get a bit nervous in the 3rd period.

Shaw Repairs

My TV goes off from time to time so a Shaw repairman came to look today. He replaced all my cables and gave me a new digital box. He's coming back with a new modem next week. Best service call I've had in ages.

Went to VESTA to watch 2 films put on by the Status of Women Committee - Reviving Ophelia and Sexy Inc. Every mother should watch these.





Was tired so left before the discussion and went home for a rest.

Met Moira at her car dealer at 19:45 and drove her home, stopping at Two Brothers on Granville for Chinese food.

Now have a bone scan booked for Monday and lab tests & oncologist on May 19th. The CT-Scan will be set for sometime in the next 2 weeks. Speed is always an indication of how seriously doctors are taking your results.

Tulips

Chris picked me up at 9:30 and then we (Patience & Pru) stopped at my local Starbucks to load up and headed south. It took about 1/2 an hour to cross at the truck crossing.

Our goal was Roozengaarde which I had programmed in my GPS on my last visit. The others hadn't been to see the tulips before and were suitably impressed. Entry is only $4 and that get you parking across the street from the gardens and later at the fields.

We started with a tail-gate picnic of leftover ham sandwiches and potato salad that was scrumptious. Then spent a couple of hours taking photos of the 3 acres of tulips. Most of the tulip fields are gone but we still found some after a short drive - bloom map.

Stopped in La Conner and I disappeared to find a geocache near the City Hall - my 1st US find and #113. Explained to the man living across the street who thought I might be picking tulips. He thought geocaching was a great idea and will not worry when he sees people skulking around the sculpture in the little garden. Found everyone again in the stores.

We had dinner at Shari's Restaurant near Bellis Fair (which is bankrupt).

Home at 8:15 and tired. Knees don't like long car trips and it was painful getting in and out. I was fine once I started walking.

Rising markers

Went to see my oncologist this morning and saw a locum instead. She says my tumour markers are going up. I now will have a bone scan at VGH on Monday and a CT-Scan at the Agency sometime soon.

Had a coffee at Mae's and picked up my birthday present. I like a spread out birthday. Stopped at the VSB for a sandwich in the cafeteria and then walked next door to Chapters and began to spend my birthday gift cards - what fun!

Came home for a couple of hours to read the papers and then went to Pru's for dinner with Patience and Chris. Watched some hockey and then home.

Choirs

Woke up with a headache so stayed quiet all day. Read papers and caught up with taped TV shows. Good thing I have machines in living room and bedroom. Set both going for tonight.

Picked up Pru & Jesse and we went to Chris's for dinner. Then to St. Patrick's Church to hear the Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir with cousin Tim. He didn't know Patience was here. Also heard Talon sing in the Saint Patrick's Regional Secondary Chamber Choir - very impressive group that brought the audience to it's feet!

Birthday party

I did nothing all day but read the newspapers and watch stuff I had taped during the hockey games. At 5:30 I returned my library stuff and picked up The Russian Album - Ignatieff's story of his father's family.

Arrived at Pru's for my birthday party at 6 and there was Patience. Her grandson had emailed me to say she wasn't calling on my birthday from Houston because all the rain had knocked out her phone. She has been hiding in Pru's basement! A perfect surprise.

They had organized a great party with lots of wonderful food. Many friends and family members came - Jesse, (Luke phoned from Australia), Chris, Patrick, David, Elaine, Rick, Matt, Sharron, Georgina, Lori, Anni, Marilyn, Jane, Moira, Mary, Maureen, Louise and many Sandhu's. Judy and Patience helped Pru with the cooking - there was a pile of food that flowed all night, as did the wine.

It felt like Christmas opening all the presents. Even some Euro's and a map of Venice to tempt me into joining Moira et al at a conference in Italy in August.

It is so nice to still have birthdays and I enjoy every one of them. I am counting on a good appointment with my oncologist Monday that will mean having some more of them.

Cleaning day

Mel and her daughter came at 1 to clean and do the laundry. I always have to spend time cleaning up to get ready for her. God knows what my place would look like without her coming! It must be spring as we switched from flanel to cotton sheets!

Used part of a gift card at the White Spot for dinner - Mediterranean Chicken Burger (Fresh chargrilled chicken breast marinated in our lemon-herb sauce with red pepper, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, cream cheese and feta. Creamy coleslaw, Melissa’s favourite frizzled onions and 'endless' fries) from the Tastes Like Spring menu.

My legs are hurting some today so I am following instructions and resting them.

Did an election blog for the RTA that I should have had ready a couple of weeks ago.

Well I have now lived longer than my father or his father did. Not bad since a couple of oncologists predicted I'd be dead in 2 years in 1993.

Had lunch (lamb souvlaki & lentil soup) at Tops with Nancy, Diane and Rum. (chocolates & wine - mmmm). Picked up some stuff at London Drugs. I was out of everything.

Physio was at 2. After the session was nearly over, the clerk knocked to say the 2:00 client was still waiting. I found my appointment slip when I came home and this time I was right. I'll take it in next week to prove it. My legs are a bit sore and she says it is the tendons. I'm to stay on level ground for a few days.

Decided to come home instead of geocaching. Bacon and eggs for dinner.

Several calls, cards and emails from friends. I do like birthdays!

VBE Heritage

Went to my first meeting of the Vancouver Board of Education Heritage Committee this morning. Mostly retired principals and 1 retired associate superintendent. Glad to see Maryanne is a member - she is the archivist in the bunch. The goal is to get some space from the VBE and set up a Heritage Centre with books, photos, etc. We've already scanned over 2,000 photos and schools can access then online.

Visited a few friends and had my second free Starbucks coffee (Earth Day) with Collette. Stayed for lunch in the cafeteria.

Tried 3 geocaches in Richmond but only found one near London Farm on the dyke. Shopped at Cobbs and M&M Meats and then home.

Get out the broom

Out this morning to renew my driver's licence. The wait wasn't long at all.

Picked up Mae and we tried parking at Granville Island. Stupid at lunch time. Gave up and went to Caper's for lunch.

Back to Granville Island for groceries and found a parking spot right away. Took Mae to find a geocache by the market and it was an easy one - #111.

Dropped Mae off at home and went to Cancer Agency to pick up my pills.

Arrived home 5 minutes before Sears arrived with my new cocktail/coffee table. The even carried my old one (1970) down so I could put it by the garbage bin. I'm sure someone will recycle it.

Enjoyed watching the Canucks sweep a series for the first time in their history!

Almost the perfect day

Out early for groceries at Safeway.

Called Dell again and again was told they would send a shipping label to return the unopened netbook that I had cancelled twice before it arrived. This time, the email came and I stuck the UPS on. Took the box to the UPS store on Granville. In the same block I was able to deposit a cheque & withdraw money from VanCity and go to a lab for my cancer checkup bloodwork. They needed a good vein to draw 4 vials and had to use one on the back of my hand.

Attended Status of Women meeting and took the minutes, emailing them off before leaving.

Made it to Primo's for dinner 15 minutes late and no one was there. It is next Monday! Oh well, can't do everything right.

Inside day

Was awake before 9 but stayed in bed to listen to an interview with Ignatief on CBC.

Sears called to arrange delivery of my new cocktail/coffee table on Tuesday night - there is a hockey game so I know I'll be in.

Actually did my taxes and Netfiled them. Love not having to pack everything up to mail. I get a refund so should have done it ages ago.

Settled in to watch the Canucks win game 3 and the end of the Giants win in overtime.

Enjoying The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Too bad it is only on HBO (63).

BCTLA and BCLA

Moira drove today and we started at the Metrotown Holiday Inn Express with the BCTLA Chapter Councilor meeting and AGM. I was given a certificate and White Spot gift certificate commemorating my 2007 Life Time Memership award. Was also re-appointed Web Steward although Al will take over doing the web site. I'll keep doing the Calendar, news blogs and forum. Heather did an amazing job and we got through both agendas by noon!

We joined the BCLA conference in the Metrotown Hilton for lunch in the display area and then attended 2 workshops. Finished at 5:30 and found Moira for the drive home.

Neither of us had the energy to cook so we ate at Applause.

My knees did not like sitting for so long. At least I had my netbook to play with.

Long Day

Up early for the 10:00 COSCO (Council of Senior CitizensOrganizations of BC) meeting at the Hastings Community Centre. Rafe Mair was the guest speaker from the Save Our Rivers Society. He convinced me of the problems with the run of river proposals and the destruction of BC Hydro. Nice to hear that voice again.

A group of us had lunch at Tom & Jerry's and then I headed off to find some geocaches in Burnaby. Failed on a few and now have 110.

Didn't see the point in driving home and back to Burnaby again so killed enough time that I ended up at the Burnaby Keg at 4:30. Sat and read the paper until the others from the BCTLA Executive arrived at 5:00. I had Sirloin Oscar (Grilled top sirloin topped with shrimp, scallops, asparagus and Bearnaise sauce). Put the whole bill on my credit card for the points.

We had our Executive meeting at the Metrotown Hilton and worked until 10:00. I was bad and watched the Canuck's playoff game live on my netbook. Might have gotten away with it but I yelled when the 1st goal was scored. Three of us have birthdays this month and were given cards, balloons & cupcakes.

Finally home at 10:45.

Haircut

Out this afternoon for a much needed haircut. I was getting shaggy and it was too warm now spring is really here.

The expected rain held off so I wandered around and found some more geocaches - 107.

I was so caught up in the Canucks game last night, I forgot to watch Bones & Lost. Watched them both on my laptop on A Channel & Global. Great service!

Canucks win 1st game

Went to the doctor to refill hayfever prescription. Mine was busy so another saw me. He agreed that the cough and throat problem I've had for a while is just sinus.

Today was 1st of three film nights at VESTA. TOday David Chudnovsky and Jennifer Hales presented The Way Home. We started with some wine and food, watched the movie and then asked questions about homelessness.

Home just in time for the Canuck's first goal.

Blossom time

Vancouver is full of blossoms - this is why we live here!

Physio at 2:00. My foot was a bit swollen last night but was normal today.

Decided to try for the geocache near Marine Way & Boundary that my partners couldn't find yesterday. I cheated and parked below MW at a service station. After a short walk back up the hill I found a large trail & was right at the cache. Much easier than climbing down several sets of stairs. Found the little cache after about 10 minutes. Added a couple of others in Burnaby and am at 103.

Rewarded myself with dinner at the Cactus Club and then home to watch the Giants win.

100 Geocaches!

Met Pam (Ms Marple1) and Lori (HenderBugs) at 10 this morning near Fraserview Golf Course. I drove while we found 17 caches. I am now at 100!

We worked from the Fraser River up to Kingsway, between Knight and Boundary. Couldn't find a couple of them. Stopped at Top's for lunch and a rest break. Home just after 6. A lot of walking. Still having trouble on stairs and nearly fell while standing on a pile of rocks. Should use the cane more.

Baseball & Curling

Spent a rainy day watching Toronto lose, Seattle win & Canada lose to Scotland in a squeaker.

Also installed my Tax program and wrote my annual TL report.

Steak, baked potato & cranberry wine for Easter dinner. Now to do the dishes.

Canucks win Division

Spent an enjoyable afternoon watching the Canucks win a nooner and take the Division.



Then had a lazy day watching TV & movies. I was stiff after all the walking this week.

Fort Langley

Took advantage of a rain-free day and loaded a bunch of waypoints near Fort Langley. Found a couple of geocaches and stopped at Tracycakes Bakery Cafe - broccoli & potato soup with a fresh biscuit and then a cupcake.

Continued hunting and got my number up to 82. The radio I put in my car last year plays MP3-CDs and VPL has started stocking them. So nice to have a book on one disc instead of 5 or 6. . A good mystery makes the day go quickly. Finally stopped when I couldn't find 2 in a row and realized it was 4:45 - I had started at 10!

Edmonton did the right thing tonight and whipped Calgary. Canucks are still 2 points ahead with 1 game to go.

Delivery?

Got up at 7:30 to be ready for the 8 to 5 delivery of my new "cocktail table" (I call it a coffee table) but they called about 11 to say it didn't make it from the store to the delivery site. Now I don't know when it will come. Between physio and being on alert for possible flooding in Manitoba, this could be tricky.

Out briefly to the library and Safeway.

Started the day with a headache so just stayed in doing accounting and reading.

What Meeting?

Rushed to get to COSCO meeting at 9:30 in the Hastings Community Centre. I was late but there was no meeting. It has been moved to the 17th. It wasn't just me, it was booked for today and none for the next week.

Decided to make good use of being out and started searching for geocaches in Burnaby. Found one in Brentwood Mall parking lot. Went in for lunch and stopped at Sears to look at coffee (cocktail) tables. Found a slightly damaged one on sale for $79. Most of what I've looked at was $300-$400. Even with a $60 deliver charge I thought it was a good deal. Stopped at Home Depot for a touchup pen.

By the end of the day I was up to 75 finds.

Cherry Blossoms

The trees have finally indicated that it is Spring.

I barely touched my coffee table and it fell over, spewing books and small computers across the room. The leg first came off in the early 1970's & I guess it is time to buy a new one. Must find a store that delivers.

Added a few more caches in the sunshine - up to 67! The ones I don't find are irritating! I know that I'm just not thinking clearly at times. Started in Richmond and then back in Vancouver.

Physio at 4:30 for my sore neck. It has been much better but I still can't turn my head properly to the right.

A Day in the Sun

The day ended with a shooting down the street. I see on the 11:00 news that someone was killed at the Husky a couple of blocks from me. So maybe geocaching in the woods isn't any more dangerous than walking to the corner store?

Out this morning to Stanley Park and found 3 caches. One in the woods by the Aquarium wasn't too hard. If you haven't been to the Totems in the last few years, they are worth a visit. Prospect Point is coming together. Once the ground cover has grown in it will be specular - much better than before. Impressed with the stone monument to the storm. Couldn't figure out how to get to a cache under the Burrard Street bridge. Next time I'll walk from the Maritime Museum parking lot.

Out to Richmond to shop at COSTCO. The clerk didn't scan 2 cases of water (yes, I buy bottles since I am in a building with old pipes & my immune system is compromised) and I was caught at the door. I said if I was trying to steal something, I'd have picked something smaller (and worth more) and they were quite pleasant about it.

Failed to figure out how to get to a cache near the Knight Street bridge and took it as a sign to head home. 63 finds!

New Convention Centre

Took the bus downtown to meet Mae, Jane & Glenn at the Pan Pacific Hotel. We then went to the new Vancouver Convention Centre. It is an amazing building. Loved the living roof and beehives. Too bad there isn't any way to see the new artificial reef.



Jane treated us to lunch at Steamworks. I was hoping to eat in the Transcontinental but it was closed - not too smart on a weekend when 60,000+ walked by on the way to new building.

Too tired to shop so came home. I realized that I had been gone for 6 hours - no wonder my feet hurt!

Poor Canucks. Can't be easy dealing with 2 deaths in one year.

Spring is really here

This was going to be a "let's not even get dressed day" but Moira called and I had to shower and dress to have dinner with her. Applause was full so we went to the White Spot and ate too much.

I missed the last 2 minutes of Bones on my taping this week. Was delighted to find the whole episode on the GlobalTV site.

Wendy Ladner-Beaudry was found murdered in Pacific Spirit Park yesterday. We were geocaching across the street at Musqueam Park a couple of times in the last 2 weeks. Once I stumbled on someone's camp. I didn't get too close and we didn't see anyone who might have been using it. Might not go after those other caches hidden in the Endownment Lands for a while, at least not alone.

Quiet day

Out a couple of times for paper and groceries. Failed to find a couple of nearby caches - will try another day.

Lots of arrests today. The police have been quietly working on gang killings.

60 Finds

Met Lori in Steveston this morning and we found several caches in Richmond, ending up at Dave's Fish & Chips for fish & chips.

My GPS is won't find the satellites so we had to depend on Lori's. Stopped at home for the bill & box and then down to Deakin's on Powell Street. They played with it for a while but finally just gave me a new one - a good argument against buying online!

Stopped on the way home to find 2 more to get my number up to 60.

Physio

Woke up at 7 and put the news on. Turned over and it was 10:10! Had to rush a bit to make the 11:00 physio appointment.

My neck has been pretty good, but hurt once Stacy began working on my muscles. She said that it will probably be up and down for a while and not to get frustrated.

Big shopping load at Safeway and then home.

It was snowing this morning!
